How To Crochet This Simple and EASY Flower For Beginners

A while ago I filmed a crochet tutorial for a simple and easy flower. I had just started learning how to film and it wasn’t a very good video. It was too fast and my hands kept going out of camera range. I could name a few other things but you might have watched it and I’m sure you have your own opinion. I didn’t think it mattered, old video whatever. Anyways, recently the video has gotten a few more views than I was expecting. As well as lots of comments hating and asking me to re-film. The pattern is super simple, easy and fun to add to crochet projects as well as sewing and craft projects. Below I have the pattern written out for you. To Begin.

For this pattern you will need some scrap yarn. You can use any yarn weight you have on hand. Smaller yarns make smaller flowers.

For my flowers I used worsted weight yarn (cotton) from Hobby Lobby Yarn Bee and I love this Cotton. I also used a Tulip 3.5mm crochet hook. You can find these linked in my Amazon Store as well as other goodies I have ordered and love from Amazon.

Stitch Abbreviations:

ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet

Gauge:

My flowers are 1.25” across you can make the flowers larger or smaller depending on the yarn weight or thickness you choose.

Make a slip knot with a longer tail (about 3”)

Petal 1. ch 3 (counts as first ch 2 and flower center) 2 dc into 3rd ch from hook (flower center) ch 2, sl st into flower center.

Petal 2. ch 2, 2 dc into flower center, ch 2, sl st into flower center.

If the center of the flower is sliding open as you work this is very normal and you can just pull the long tail of the slip knot to close it as you go. Do not pull tight until you have all of the petals finished.

Petal 3-5. Repeat petal 2.

Once you have the desired number of petals, cut a tail at least 3” long, pull tail though last loop on the hook, tie the tail and the tail from the slip knot together to secure at the back of the flower. You can now use these to sew the flower on to your project or weave them in and cut the extra yarn if not needed.
